Hamilton Beach 62695V Power Deluxe Hand Mixer Reviews

Five reviews of the Hamilton Beach 62695V Power Deluxe Hand Mixer

1、The Hamilton Beach hand mixer recently purchased was a most pleasant surprise – from packaging to product.
It was purchased to replace an “ancient” hand mixer that literally went “up in smoke” when I attempted to beat a very thick batter for cookies. The new mixer was literally made to overcome any difficulties encountered in mixing all types of batters! I immediately mixed the impossible cookie batter without a problem – following specific instructions.
Another plus is the ingenious storage for the beaters! I felt the mixer is worth much, much more than its price tag.

2、I could not believe what a find this was. It’s comfortable handle and weight make using the various attachment a breeze. It has all the power you will need to mix your cakes & mash your potatoes. By far my favorite is the storage bin that holds all the attachments and the cord allowing the mixer to set in a sturdy manner under my sink! Couldn’t be more pleased. There is nothing that I don’t like about it.

3、I purchased this hand mixer a few months ago because of the incredible deal Amazon[.com] was offering on it. I have not regretted my purchase whatsoever. It is very powerful and mixes thoroughly. I did give it only 4 stars because it is simply a bit too powerful on the lowest setting, and if you are not careful you might lose a little bit of whatever you are mixing :)

4、I have had this mixer for two years now. I purchased it to replace one that had lasted me 20 years, and I use it perhaps once a week. I have had NO problems with it. For the money, I think it is one terrific little mixer! THe pros:

1) Does not splatter. I first bought a different brand and returned it to the store—it splattered a lot. This one is fine.
2) Has plenty of speeds and a motor more than adequate for normal hand-mix chores.
3) I LOVE the included storage container for keeping the beaters with it and the cord neatly stowed.
4) Beaters fit in nicely, eject easily, and there is a whisk attachment included
5 The price is awesome!

Personally, I find no negatives to this mixer at all. I have a big stand-up mixer that I would use for things like thicker doughs. The net is: if you want a HAND mixer that will do heavy doughs, you need to either pay more than $20 or get a stand-up mixer! But if you want a convenient mixer for lighter jobs (at an incredible price), you can’t “beat” this one!

UPDATE: As of Sept 23, 2011—going strong after FOUR years of use! Great product!

5、I bought this mixer as a replacement for one my daughter melted and tried it out for the first time tonight.

Initially things went well, and I liked the power that it offered, though the low speed is a little faster than I usually prefer. But towards the end of the recipe, the mixer began emitting a burning smell and then a bit of smoke. I was mixing a pretty thick batter, but it was still a batter, not anything nearly as thick as a cookie dough, and it was a batter that was handled easily for years by my little Betty Crocker mixer. I thankfully managed to make it all the way through the recipe on the lowest speed, but I know the mixer won’t hold up to making it again.

This mixer just doesn’t seem to be able to handle much resistance at higher RPMs. It would probably be a decent mixer for light duty, but to be honest you could probably find a sturdier mixer in a comparable price range.

I gave this more than one star because the features like the storage case, included attachments (I was looking forward to the whisk!), and range of speeds are nice, but after just one session with it, I’m pretty disappointed with its performance. A quality piece of equipment should last more than one day.

KitchenAid Ultra Power 5-Speed Hand Mixer Reviews

5 reviews of the KitchenAid Ultra Power 5-Speed Hand Mixer

1、Excellent hand mixer! At first, I was torn between getting the 5-speed, 7-speed, or the 9-speed. I was afraid that the 5-speed would not be as powerful as the latter two. However, I ended up going with the 5-speed as a trial and because it was much cheaper! Needless to say, the 5-speed has done the job! I hardly ever go up to the top 2 speeds anyway and my baking and cooking has become much faster and more efficient with this hand mixer! There are 3 different types of attachments: the regular whisk-like ones as pictured, a cork-screw looking attachment for mixing thicker ingredients such as dough, and a stick attachment for smoothies. All attachments work great and are very easy to clean. I would highly recommend this item! The Kitchenaid brand is reliable and it compliments other Kitchenaid items in my kitchen!

2、Before this mixer I had a hand mixer I bought for $10 at Walmart and had it for 8 years, never a problem. I paid over $50.00 for this 13 months ago and at first the beater seemed loose but I didn’t think much of it then while mixing frosting the metal prongs on one of the beaters all detached at the same time leaving me with only one side operational to finish my daughter’s cupcakes for school. I have never been more unhappy with a product in my life. It is a complete waste of money. The speed is very slow and every once in awhile it just pauses for no reason. Garbage, don’t waste your money.

3、I had a black and decker hand mixer that broke after 18 years of use. I researched and the kitchen aid 5 speed ultra power was the best for the money. BE AWARE that it appears Kitchen Aid is phasing this model out for the the more expensive 7 speed model. The 7 speed model does not come with the dough hooks and you have to buy them separately for $14.99. I agree with other writers that this model is not speedy but it gets the job done!!! The dough hooks work fine on really really thick cookie dough. Will this work with bread dough? Yes if one is patient and takes their time a the slower speed. Also with bread dough I tend to use my hands towards the end of the process anyway. It does the job it was meant to do with really useful attachments that no other current model gives you for the price. I say buy it before they are gone (Bed Bath and Beyond is no longer stocking it)

4、I bought two of these for gifts 15 years ago. Both were used rather lightly. The one motor’s cooling fan is now broken. The other screams when under no load. For the price they should be ‘heirloom quality’ and last a lifetime. In reality it’s a decent mixer but not quite worth the price.

An update: The loud one is behaving better after a cleaning and re-greasing. The fan is not available as a part so I glued it together and reinstalled it. From looking over these two mixers I can tell you IF YOU HAVE ONE OF THESE AND LOVE IT: Disassemble it every 10 years regardless of how hard it was used by taking a pick to the 4 plugs on the bottom revealing 4 screws. Remove them and the lower case and tighten the two motor screws and reassemble. Clean and re-grease with an appropriate plastic compatible grease if you are so inclined. Once these screws back out a little bit, the motor tips and allows the plastic cooling fan blades to hit their shroud. They dont like that ;-)

It is typical for American engineering to produce a product that will last forever if you correct one or two design flaws. The motor is ‘top shelf’. I have not suffered the broken beater socket (yet) so I can not speak to its solution. My old ones I think were made in USA, I see where these are now Chinese.

5、Am I disappointed! My son got into the habit of making cakes and cookies a year or so ago, so we got a reliable brand (Kitchenaid) hand mixer.

At first I thought it odd that the first speed didn’t seem all that much slower than the highest speed.

But then last week my son was mixing chocolate chip cookie dough and the tines on one of the beaters just sheared off!

So today I’m making some gingersnap cookies with the one remaining beater, and zing! the last beater shears apart.

I went looking for some replacement beaters, but with the $15 cost and $7 shipping, it’ll be $23. And those will last approximately 18 months.

I think I’ll check the thrift stores and estate sales to see if I can pick up an old Sunbeam mixer for a few bucks. My mom had one for forty years and it worked like a champ.

What’s the world coming to when you spend $50 and get a product so cheap it self destructs in less than two years? Shame on you KitchenAid!

No more cheapie KitchenAid mixers for me!
